Hugh Miles

Hugh began his stellar camp drafting career when he was 12 years old. Having horses growing up, but no family involved in camp drafting, Hugh learned from anyone willing to share their insight. He listened closely to his mentors to find out what worked best for him.
A natural competitor, he won the 2011 Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge “Millionnic Chic” and returned in 2012, claiming the title again on “Woolerina Rhythum”. Followed by Paradise Lagoons Stallion Draft on “Conductor” and in 2013 saw a career highlight when he and “Oaks Riverqueen” won the Supergirl, before going on to win the Champion of Champions.
In 2014, Hugh and “Conductor” won the inaugural Charlie Maher Young Gun Draft at Landmark. The pair returned in 2015, this time winning the Stallion Shootout over 2 rounds of camp drafting and a third-round cut-out.
Attending the Royal Easter Show World Championship Campdraft in 2018, Hugh was awarded the highest aggregate cut-out score and won on “Peelvale Wishes” in 2019.
Training draft winners has been a feature of Hugh’s career which include Acres of Oak, Corvette, Dreamtime, Copycat, Copyright and Honey, but this feature now includes training cutting winners with Melody’s Chic and Dually Teles among his early cutting successes followed up by:
- 2019 Darling Downs Cutting Club Open Futurity Champion with “Oakbarn One Time Cat”
- 2022 NSW Cutting Horse Club Champion Open Futurity Final on “PCD Louie Moore” & Champion Limited Open Futurity on “Stevie Nix”.
